My End of Summer Flower

My first Dahlia bloomed and this encouraged me to begin my garden journal. 

Motto

So far I found gardening to be a humbling experience. I may know the names of plants but it does not mean I know how to care for them. Half a year ago we moved into a regular plot of Suburban land in the Silicon Valley. Many plants have not flourished as I just expected they naturally would. The ones that do well are the plants that were previously well established when we moved in or those given to me by my dad. I am now convinced my dad is a super garden genius. If only he could breathe on all the plants then they would all be happy and producing their respective fruits and flowers.

My friend Ellen encouraged me to kick off my online garden journal by advising me to simply post pictures. So, I may do just that from time to time.

My hopes for this blog 

1. Provide a good forum for me to ask questions about what is going on with the plants
2. Encourage myself and others to care for our "bits of earth" to make them a place we love to be in
3. Keep track of things for planning next year
4. Record inspiring flora and fauna
5. Finally, I wish to learn
